MEMBER OF THE MONTH – JANUARY
Basudev Tripathy
Country: India
Occupation: Research
Specialty: Olive ridley sea turtle
Biggest challenges I
face: Counting nesting turtles during arribadas
The most unusual or
exciting thing that's happened to me while working in the field: While traveling in a country boat in extremely bad weather condition in the sea in Lakshadweep, suddenly I saw a hawksbill turtle swimming parallel to my boat for a distance of almost 20 meters
Why I like being a member
of the MTSG: It gives great opportunities to contribute and share new ideas for a meaningful sea turtle conservation strategy
Turtle researcher /
conservationist I most admire:
Chandrasekhar Kar / B.C Choudhury
When I'm not working on
turtles I like to: Share my field experience with friends
Ten years from now, I
hope I will be doing: Still exploring new ideas to save the olive ridleys of the Indian Ocean (if by that time olive ridleys still exist in the Bay of Bengal)
