MEMBER OF THE MONTH – OCTOBER 2004
Romulus Earl Whitaker
Country: India
Occupation: Herpetologist, film producer / presenter
Specialty: Field biology
Best part about my job: Being in the field looking for critters
Biggest challenges I
face: Getting permits from the government to do the job, getting adequate grants that let me do all the things I want to do.
The most unusual or
exciting thing that's happened to me while working in the field: Watching a Ridley sea turtle with one back flipper missing finally complete a nest after numerous aborted attempts.
Why I like being a member
of the MTSG: Keeps me in touch with the people and things going on with marine turtles around the world.
Turtle researcher /
conservationist I most admire:
Jack Frazier, Col Limpus
When I'm not working on
turtles I like to: Work on other herps
Ten years from now, I
hope I will be doing: Same damn thing
