MEMBER OF THE MONTH NOVEMBER 2004
Tundi Agardy
Country: USA
Occupation: Independent conservationist
Specialty: Marine protected areas
Best part about my job: Getting to influence donors and shake up governments a bit!
Biggest challenges I
face: Trying to get anything accomplished with three small children running around
The most unusual or
exciting thing that's happened to me while working in the field: Being lost at sea in Guinea Bissau, while traveling in a leaking dugout to a remote and sacred turtle-nesting island
Why I like being a member
of the MTSG: I have been out of touch with the sea turtle community for some time, and this gives me an opportunity to hear about all the superb work that people are doing.
Turtle researcher /
conservationist I most admire:
The late Bob Shoop for his great sense of humor, and Jack Woody for the wonderful person that he is
When I'm not working on
turtles I like to: Cook, and eat
Ten years from now, I
hope I will be doing: Anything I can to get my kids through college
