The MTSG Today

The Marine Turtle Specialist Group (MTSG) is presently overseen by two Co-Chairs - Roderic Mast and Dr. Nicolas Pilcher - who are based in Washington, DC, USA and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, respectively. They are supported by the MTSG’s Program Officer, Brian Hutchinson, who is also based in Washington, DC. The group is administered under the auspices of the Chelonian Research Foundation in Lunenberg, MA, USA, led by Dr. Anders Rhodin.

The MTSG presently consists of nearly 250 volunteer members from approximately 80 countries (as of July 2006). These members are divided into 11 regional subgroups, each led by a Regional Vice Chair or Regional Vice Co-Chairs. These regions are: North Atlantic, Wider Caribbean, Southwest Atlantic, West Africa / East Atlantic, Mediterranean, East Africa, Middle East, South Asia, Australasia, Pacific, and East Pacific.

For updates on current MTSG activities, please see the Co-Chairs' quarterly article in the most recent edition of the Marine Turtle Newsletter.
